Overall, this is a great piece. To start with, all of the lines are very strong and purposeful which made the picture seem more professional. Then, having the different shapes and sizes of ovals in the beetle added depth. Personally, my favorite part about this piece was the fact that it had a face on the shell. In nature many insects have this to scare off predators. By including the face in the piece, it made it seem much more plausible of its existence. I suggest that next time you could add color to the piece (or do it using a grayscale) and incorporate the shading technique that you used with both pairs of eyes. By continuing the shading it would really bring out the face on the shell and define the beetles' contours. It is obvious that you spent plenty of time making it all symmetrical (another feature in nature) and it really paid off. This piece looks amazing!
